How Should Modesty Gloves Fit? A Practical Size Guide
The fingertip is often where a glove wins or loses you. Too much fabric and a simple tap or grip becomes fiddly. Too little room and the glove pulls at the webbing between your fingers. The aim is a fit you can move in, with the amount of looseness you prefer.
Before ordering: use the brand’s measurements
Glove sizes are not standard across every brand. Compare your hand with the measurements in the KALM size guide, especially around the palm and along the fingers if those are given. Measure the hand you use most, and check both hands if one is noticeably larger. If you fall between sizes, ask the brand how its fabric stretches rather than assuming that a smaller size will look better.
KALMTHREAD offers XS, S, M and L. That gives you a choice if one-size styles tend to leave you with floppy fingertips. It does not mean that a fitted glove is right for everyone: if you want the shape of your hand less defined, choose a roomier design.
When it arrives: try this movement check
Put each finger fully into its fingertip and gently smooth any spare fabric towards the palm. Open and close your hand, hold your phone, pick up your keys, then bend the wrist. The fingertips should not hang well past your own; the fabric should not dig into the spaces between your fingers. The palm should move with you, and the cuff should sit comfortably when the arm is relaxed and raised.
Look in a mirror with the sleeves you normally wear. Some abaya cuffs overlap a wrist-length glove easily. With other sleeves, reaching forward can create a gap. Check in motion rather than judging coverage only with your arms down.
A note on touchscreen use
The way a fingertip meets a screen can affect responsiveness. Settling the fabric over the fingertip may help; different phones, screens and conditions can still behave differently.
